The 9/11 Machine eBook Greg Enslen
I'd venture to guess that most people know exactly where they were and what they were doing on the morning of September 11, 2001. I know I do. The event is as seared into my soul as so many other events in history probably are for other generations, such as when Kennedy was shot or when the space shuttle exploded. So many lives were changed on that day, mine included, and, if there were a way to turn back time, I'm sure someone would have moved heaven and earth to do it.This is that story. "The 9/11 Machine" is about Dr. Donald Ellis, a scientist who lost both his wife and daughter in one of the World Trade Center towers. After the event, Dr. Ellis left his University position and retreated to a lab in a warehouse in Brooklyn, where he devoted all of his assets to a project that would allow him to turn back time and prevent 9/11 from ever happening. As Ellis is successful in going back in time and "warning" politicians of things to come, he doesn't get the response that he wishes, several times over. In fact, it just gets worse and worse, to the point that he just has to take matters into his own hands even further.
This was such an interesting read on so many levels. The main character, Ellis, has righteous ideals and goals, yet the consequences for each action and for messing with the space-time continuum are disastrous. Great story-telling, full of suspense and thought-provoking.

The 9/11 Machine eBook Greg Enslen Reviews
First when I saw this book, I already fall in love with it. I know from the tittle and synopsis, I am gonna get hooked with it. And Mr Enslen really deliver its promise. The main char is Dr Don Ellis. He is a scientist that lost his family in 9/11. He creates time machine and come back to the past to prevent 9/11. With the story like this and real name person, who doesn't curious what will happen if 9/11 never happen. Even though I am not American and not lose anyone because of 9/11, I still I want to know.
At the beginning, the story move quite slowly. But it get interesting after he went into the past and meet another scientist. That's when the story really going. Even though it was very interesting, I still think it was quite long. But maybe too long is not a bad one for story like this if there's no too many narratives, unnecessary background, and too few dialogues. There's no antagonist and no conflict. Somehow you have a feeling that Dr Don Ellis will fail. I won't tell the ending but it was quite unpredictable, at least not for me. Unfortunately unlike the story, the characters are basically non existence. Even two or three people that keep recurring is just two dimensional. It feels like they are there just for the sake of being there. This is purely Dr Don Ellis story.
Having said that, I still recommend this story for anyone that's looking for engaging and interesting story. I don't know how to classify the story but I guess it was combination between science fiction and mystery.
My rating is 4 of 5 stars.
Author Greg Enslen tweaks an interesting set of alternative scenarios in this novel. His theory is that 9/11 could have been much much worse and he creates a set of alternate time lines to illustrate. His jumping off point is not what actually happened (in this time line) but what might have occurred - with ten times the dead, political upsets and the US as a near totalitarian state ten years down the road.
Using protagonist Don Ellis (who is determined to undo 9/11) and his trusty time machine, Enslen takes us back to before and warns the powers that be. As politicians are wont to do, they drop the ball and the death toll rises. Ellis goes back further in time, warns a different set of politicians and guess what...this time it's Armageddon! Ellis tries again, determined to warn no one and do things his own way. The outcome read it and find out.
The cast of characters is interesting. Enslen deserts his theory of not being able to return to the same timeline a few times but who's counting? However, his feel for the world at large is simplistic and on this point I am less forgiving. Are we really talking about the USA v. the rest of the world? Is Europe (the European Union) really that impotent?
Critique notwithstanding, I enjoyed the book and think others will, too.
Physicist Doctor Donald Ellis lost his family on 9/11. But while others grieved, or plotted revenge, Dr. Ellis threw himself into a project to build a time machine and make 9/11 “unhappen.” It takes him 10 years to perfect the machine before setting off to try to change the past.
This fast-paced novel takes us into the mind of Dr. Ellis, his inner thoughts, fears, and angst. He knows he can never get his wife and daughter back yet does his best to save them for his “other self” in the alternate timeline he creates by going back in time. But no matter how hard he tries, he cannot make the new time line better. In fact, his efforts make it worse. So he tries again. From there on in, I was so hooked, I couldn’t put my down.
This is your basic "what if you had a time machine and you tried to change something terrible that happened in the past" story, but this time the main character is trying to stop 9/11 from happening. Maybe it's because the horror of 9/11 is still so fresh, but the book makes for fascinating reading.
Dr. Don Ellis lost his wife and daughter in the fall of the towers. He dedicates the next 10 years to building a time machine. Back in time he goes to warn the government. From this point on the author comes up with some pretty creative-- and sobering--ideas about what might have gone differently in this terrorist attack and the inevitable cascade of events afterward. 9/11 was so terrible that you hate to say anything to lessen the tragedy, but the author will convince you it could have been worse.
If you enjoy "what if" scenarios and alternate histories, this book is for you.
